Festivities on the occasion of 50 years anniversary between the sister cities Stuttgart and Mumbai
In 2018 we celebrated an important milestone: The twin cities Stuttgart and Mumbai celebrated the 50th anniversary of their partnership. On this occasion, various events took place in Mumbai to commemorate this partnership and to celebrate the vivid friendship between the partner cities.
Jubilee Concert with Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra in cooperation with Symphony Orchestra of India, NCPA Mumbai Tata Theatre, 1st February 2018
To value the special highlight of 50 years anniversary between Stuttgart and Mumbai Mr. Andreas Lapp invited the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra to play a concert in Mumbai. In cooperation with the famous Symphony Orchestra of India a performance of classical music was shown with Haydns Cello concerto Nr. 1 C major Hob. VIIb: 1. (Soloist was the 2nd solo-violoncellist Nikolaus von Bülow) and the Tchaikovsky Serenade for String Orchestra C major op. 48. Further partners of the event were the City of Stutt.
For this “by invite only event” Chief Guests on the highest level from the City of Stuttgart as well as the City of Mumbai were expected. The event mirrored the alive partnership between the sister cities, this is why guests from various fields were invited such as education, school facilities, culture, politics or representatives from business-related sectors.
The content focus in 2018 was the 50 years anniversary between the partner cities of Stuttgart and Mumbai.
On this occasion a highly ranked delegation of the city of Stuttgart with members from the city council, representatives from the Stuttgart culture and civil society. Furthermore, 2 delegations on the state level of Baden-Würtemberg conducted by the Ministry of Economy as well as the Ministry of Science and Cultural Affairs took part in the festival.
Together with Mr. Lapp, Honorary Consul for the Republic of India, Lord Mayor of Stuttgart, Mr. Kuhn, inaugurated the 14th Wine Festival on February 2nd, 2018.
Furthermore, highly respected representatives from the sectors of the economy, film, and media, tourism, gastronomy, and education were present at the event.
The Wine Festival established over the last decade a unique platform for networking, international understanding, and intercultural get-together. Highly ranked political representatives from Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg met their counterparts from Mumbai and Maharashtra consolidating the bonds and cooperations on state and city level.
